Job summary
Due to theplanned sabbatical leave of one of our GP partners in September and October weare seeking interest from GPs who would like to be part of ourmultidisciplinary team based at Park Crescent Health Centre in Brighton caringfor a population of 13,000 patients. This would provisionally be for a 3 monthperiod with a view to extending into a permanent role, and are looking to cover4 sessions per week.
This is a greatopportunity for someone who is looking to plan some stability within theirworking life in 2024; so would encourage any locums wanting a fixed termcontract, to please contact us. This would also be with a view of leading on toa more permanent role.
Main duties of the job
Clinical rotasthat included prebooked and on the day appointments (triaged via the Dutyclinician)of 13 slots per session along with your own additional Follow upslots.
The ClinicalAdmin duties are allocated to be achievable within your daily sessions andprescription lists are limited to agreed numbers each day.
We wouldideally like the role to include Duty clinician cover during 1 day a week
The surgeryalso benefits from large reception, administration and Pharmacy Teams; as wellas bright, spacious clinical rooms. We are based close to the Open Market andNorth Laines area of Brighton, so are ideally placed for commuting in toBrighton on public transport routes.
We encourageinvolvement in the surgerys ongoing development; so attendance at regularClinical Meetings is recommended as well as the surgery daily huddle atlunchtime.

Job responsibilities
The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
Clinical responsibilities:
1. In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
2. Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
3. Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
4. Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
5. Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols
6. Providing counselling and health education
7. Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
8. Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
9. Collecting data for audit purposes
10. Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
11. Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
12. In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
