Job Summary
The Senior Healthcare Support Worker will assist the Registered Nurse in the delivery of safe, high‑quality clinical care to patients at all times. The role is supervised by a Registered Nurse and requires completion of appropriate training before undertaking clinical duties. The post holder will work collaboratively to meet the needs of patients and their families, following Group policies and procedures. The position is part of the Humber Health Partnership, a partnership of Northern Lincolnshire & Goole NHS Foundation Trust and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Responsibilities
* Assess patient condition through observations and test results, and instigate emergency procedures as required.
* Assist patients with normal activities of daily living and provide fundamental care such as eating, drinking, and toileting.
* Perform safe moving and handling procedures, using appropriate equipment (e.g., glide sheets, hoists) and following point‑of‑care testing protocols.
* Escort patients to other hospital departments, ensuring privacy and dignity are maintained at all times.
* Provide patient‑centred, compassionate, and professional care, supporting personal hygiene and maintaining confidentiality with cultural sensitivity.
* Clean clinical equipment before and after use.
* Record patient information (observations, tests, fluid balance, nutrition, height, weight, age) onto patient records.
Qualifications
Candidate must be willing to undertake a Level 2 or 3 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship, including the Care Certificate. Training must be completed before performing clinical tasks. The role requires working under direct and indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse, demonstrating competence in basic healthcare support skills, and a commitment to a work‑based learning programme.
