Role Overview
Applications are invited for the post of a Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics with a subspecialty interest in Lower Limb Trauma and Foot and Ankle Surgery (10PA). This is a substantive post to commence from 01 April 2026.
About the Trust
We are part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, a specialist centre providing major trauma and orthopaedic services, located in Cambridge. The Trust offers quality care, research, training and service improvement.
Clinical Setting
The role is based at CUH, one of the UK's largest Major Trauma Centres with a rapidly expanding elective orthopaedic capacity. The successful applicant will be part of a large team treating complex lower limb trauma and foot and ankle injuries.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
* Treat patients with multiple injuries, open fractures and complex lower limb trauma alongside a multidisciplinary trauma team.
* Provide specialist management of foot and ankle trauma, with experience at post‑CCT Fellowship level.
* Perform a mixed role in trauma and elective orthopaedic surgery, including on‑call duties.
* Support the development of a dedicated foot and ankle service.
* Participate in a supportive research environment and the training of trainees and allied health professionals.
Qualifications & Skills
* Fully registered with the GMC.
* Holder of a CCT in Trauma and Orthopaedics or within six months of award at interview.
* Higher subspecialist training or equivalent in trauma/orthopaedics; post‑CCT Fellowship or equivalent in foot and ankle is preferred.
* Demonstrable communication skills in English (GMC Good Medical Practice).
* IELTS/OET evidence for non‑UK applicants before GMC licence.
