Community Staff Nurse

Our friendly District Nursing team in Weymouth and Portland is looking for a Band 5 Community Staff Nurse to join on a permanent contract. The post is 37.5 hours/week, including weekends, bank holidays. Applicants can be newly qualified or experienced; full training and support will be provided. We seek dynamic, motivated individuals who provide a high standard of nursing care to patients in their own homes.
We welcome applications from newly qualified nurses and provide a comprehensive Preceptorship Programme for new RGN graduates.
The successful individual must be able to drive and have access to a car.
Employment in this role requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service may present a valid DBS certificate instead of a new check.

Main duties of the job
The role includes wound care, palliative care, IV drug administration, medication and injection administration, diabetes management, and many other diverse skills.
Both full‑ and part‑time vacancies are available. Successful candidates will be expected to work weekends, late shifts (up to 8pm) and bank holidays on a pro‑rata basis.
With excellent links to local universities, the training and development we offer is first class, allowing rapid upskilling and support with new skills. Newly qualified staff will have access to a preceptorship program and a specific clinical upskilling program to support their transition from student to RGN.

Knowledge, Skills and Training
* Membership of the relevant Professional Body
* Learning and Assessing in Practice Qualification or equivalent practice assessors training
* Evidence of recent professional development in an up‑to‑date portfolio
* Knowledge and understanding of Trust Strategy relevant to role

* Supervised experience gained during clinical placements
* Ability to mentor students / supervise other junior staff
* Experience of contributing to the management of change
* Demonstrable knowledge of assessment and therapeutic interventions in area of practice
