Job Description:
To assist with Litigated Road Traffic Accident claims and, where required, to effectively manage a portfolio of litigated small claims track files under supervision and guidance.
The role involves handling quantum and liability small claims and some lower value fast track cases efficiently, using telephone negotiation techniques to obtain appropriate settlements.
This position is ideal for someone starting in litigated file handling, with training provided, including ongoing support and mentoring from a senior handler or supervisor.
Key Accountabilities:
* Manage a caseload of Small Claims Track cases, ensuring deadlines are met.
* Achieve performance targets and quality standards.
* Analyze evidence to develop case strategies on liability and quantum.
* Negotiate with clients, defendants, insurers, and solicitors for settlements.
* Proof witnesses, assess evidence, and draft statements.
* Draft court documents and meet deadlines.
* Instruct and liaise with Counsel.
* Guide defendants through litigation and set expectations.
* Maintain case management and billing records accurately.
* Delegate tasks appropriately within the team.
* Handle correspondence and calls within service level agreements.
* Update reports with new evidence.
* Follow client guidelines for case updates.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:
* Legal experience through education or work.
* File handling experience in law practice or insurance.
* Understanding of highway code and road traffic laws.
* Ability to plan and prioritize.
* Efficiency in process-driven environments.
* Proactive attitude and development focus.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
* Sensitivity and tact in handling cases.
* Teamwork skills.
* Basic knowledge of Court Practice Rules.
