Senior Advisor - Future Agriculture - Environmental Land Management - 31666
Environment Agency employment opportunity with a focus on future agricultural policy reform and Environmental Land Management (ELM) schemes. The role involves informing and shaping the delivery of ELM, particularly Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier (CSHT), and working with Defra and delivery partner colleagues to improve services to farmers and land managers. The post supports the EA2030 strategy and government targets for water, environment and climate, within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
* Provide advice in meetings, manage commissions, and oversee programme milestones.
* Identify future risks and resource requirements; work across teams and organisations with senior leaders to articulate a scheme that supports outcomes.
* Contribute to the design and delivery of incentives within the wider context of organisational response to government reviews.
* Deliver key CSHT products for the Farming and Countryside Programme and drive continuous improvement of the scheme through its design and delivery.
Experience / Skills Required
* Experience of Agriculture and working with Defra and other statutory bodies is essential.
* Politically aware with excellent communication and networking skills.
* Understanding of environmental sensitivities associated with significant agriculture sector reform.
* Experience interpreting/evaluating evidence to propose effective risk-based solutions for challenging problems.
* Ability to prioritise and deliver complex work; self-starter who actively develops and takes ideas forward.

Additional information
You’ll have an incident management objective in your development plan. Appropriate training will be given. The EA base location is flexible/hybrid in England; some travel/overnights will be required. We use smart tools to stay connected and reduce travel.
