The Procurement Lead role is responsible for delivering strategic sourcing and commercial outcomes across defined commodity areas, supporting new product introduction, manufacturing, and distribution activities. The role provides expert market insight, commercial challenge, and supplier relationship management to ensure value for money, continuity of reliable supply and risk mitigation. Through a consultative, cross-functional approach, the role strengthens procurement capability and delivers robust supplier and commodity strategies. Working hours: 37 hours per week, Monday-Friday. Working style: Hybrid working.
Responsibilities
* Deliver effective commodity strategies that secure value for money, continuity of supply, and appropriate risk management for the business.
* Provide commercial leadership to supplier engagements, ensuring robust contracts, competitive outcomes, and balanced allocation of risk.
* Support new product introduction and business change activity by providing timely, credible procurement input to business cases and decision-making.
* Maintain market, cost, and supply insight to anticipate and manage price volatility, capacity constraints, and external market influences.
* Develop and manage the supplier base to ensure capability, capacity, performance, and alignment with business requirements.
* Drive procurement performance through clear targets, meaningful data, and delivery of agreed commercial and functional KPIs.
* Enable effective cross-functional decision-making by influencing stakeholders and aligning procurement activity to strategic and operational priorities.
* Ensure accurate forecasting, reporting, and data integrity to support budgeting, planning, and commercial governance.
* Enable delivery of sustainability and decarbonisation objectives by influencing supply decisions and embedding responsible sourcing practices.
Qualifications
* Experience of delivering strong commercial outcomes within a manufacturing or technically complex environment.
* Experience of developing and deploying procurement or commodity strategies aligned to business objectives.
* Capability to lead and execute supplier negotiations, including the ability to influence and challenge stakeholders at a senior level.
* Understanding of technical documentation, drawings, specifications, and statements of work to enable effective sourcing and commercial decision making.
* Capability to manage strategic supplier relationships, including contract negotiation, performance management, and ongoing commercial governance.
* Understanding of global sourcing principles, including Incoterms and customs considerations.
* Experience of managing multiple workstreams and priorities, applying logical problem solving and sound judgement at pace.
* Commercial and financial acumen relating to sourcing, cost management, forecasting, and budget contribution.
* Capability to analyse and interpret market, cost, risk, and supply data to inform recommendations and decisions.
* Experience of working effectively in a cross functional or matrix environment, influencing outcomes without direct authority.
* Proficiency in the use of procurement systems, business systems, and data tools to support sourcing and reporting activities.
* Willingness and ability to travel as required to supplier and business locations.
Desirable Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Professional procurement or supply chain qualification (e.g. MCIPS, SCIM, or equivalent).
* Experience within HVAC, electronics, or other technical manufacturing sectors.
* Capability or interest in mentoring or supporting the development of peers within a procurement or supply chain function.
