Instrument Technician, Grangemouth Temporary

Petroineos Refining and Trading is one of the largest independent refiners trading in Europe. We are seeking experienced Instrument Technicians to join our Offsites team at our Grangemouth site on a temporary basis. The Instrument Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, fault finding, overhauling, and improving instrument and electrical plant equipment to ensure safe and reliable manufacturing processes that meet business demands. The role also involves executing these tasks safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively while complying with all company procedures and international standards.
The key accountabilities of the role are:
1. Perform all executable work in compliance with the RAP Net permit, work pack, procedure, and/or method statement within the scheduled time.
2. Participate in the technical appraisal of new Work Orders & Service Requests to diagnose remediation scope when requested.
3. Assess future work scopes and take appropriate actions to resolve issues.
4. Evaluate and communicate fault findings, defining the most suitable solutions considering availability and cost to prevent reoccurrence.
5. Promote and support predictive and preventive maintenance, assisting operations technicians to increase equipment reliability and availability.
6. Report delays or significant issues to the Supervisor to maximize productivity and improve asset performance.
7. Liaise with external suppliers and third parties to identify spares, drawings, and tooling to enhance maintenance activities.
8. Provide daily feedback to the Supervisor or Asset Scheduler on work progress and completion.
9. Complete all QA and Work Pack documentation, including job reports and instrumentation reports.
10. Execute IT software system expectations proactively, including failure codes and work order updates.
11. Create or update maintenance documentation, ensuring accuracy and requesting updates to master documents as needed.
12. Ensure availability of workshop consumables and PPE.
13. Engage in personal development, including training and competence enhancement, aligned with annual appraisals and personal objectives.
14. Work towards electrical authorization for electrical scopes on 11KV installations.
15. Work within plant conditions, including heights, confined spaces, and breathing apparatus.
16. Maintain competence in asset workshop machinery and safe working practices.
17. Cover at least one non-core activity such as COSHH, PUWER, Manual Handling assessments, or safety representation.
18. Lead daily apprentice training within their asset area.
19. Complete a 5 Why investigation for CEB work scope.
20. Participate in TBRA and constructability sessions upon request.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills
Required
* Formal Instrument/Electrical Apprenticeship.
* Ability to read detailed technical drawings, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and instrumentation loop diagrams.
* Excellent communication skills.
Desirable
* Experience working on a top-tier COMAH site.
* IT literacy and proficiency with computer systems.
* Experience with Maximo CMMS.
* Current driving license preferred.
