ABC Teachers | Exclusive MSP for Think Differently Education Trust ABC Teachers are seeking a skilled and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work within an SEN school in Birmingham, part of the Think Differently Education Trust (who we are proud to be working with as a Managed Service Partner) Key Details Job Type: Teaching Assistant Start Date: ASAP Age range: KS3 – KS5 Contract: Agency supply with potential for permanent appointment Location: Birmingham School Type: SEN Salary: £410 - £425 per week About the role: An SEN Teaching Assistant at James Brindley Academy plays a key role in supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities across its hospital and centre-based settings. They work closely with teachers to adapt learning activities, provide one-to-one or small group support, and help remove barriers to learning for young people who may have complex medical or emotional needs. SEN Teaching Assistants also provide important pastoral support, helping pupils build confidence, resilience and engagement with their education. By creating a calm and supportive environment and liaising with staff and families, they help ensure that every young person can continue their learning and make meaningful progress. About the school: James Brindley Academy is a specialist academy in Birmingham that provides education for children and young people who cannot attend mainstream school due to medical needs or other barriers. It operates across hospital settings and learning centres, offering a personalised and inclusive approach to help pupils continue their education. The Academy works closely with families, schools and healthcare professionals to ensure learning is tailored to each young person’s needs. Alongside academic progress, it places strong emphasis on wellbeing, resilience and supporting successful transitions back into mainstream education or future pathways. About you: To be considered for the skilled SEN Teaching Assistant position, you will: Have previous experience working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs, such as learning difficulties, autism, and sensory needs. Suitable qualifications such as Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools are desired but not essential. Have strong communications skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students. Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
