They work closely with teachers to adapt learning activities, provide one-to-one or small group support, and help remove barriers to learning for young people who may have complex medical or emotional needs. SEN Teaching Assistants also provide important pastoral support, helping pupils build confidence, resilience and engagement with their education. By creating a calm and supportive environment and liaising with staff and families, they help ensure that every young person can continue their learning and make meaningful progress. About the school: James Brindley Academy is a specialist academy in Birmingham that provides education for children and young people who cannot attend mainstream school due to medical needs or other barriers. About you: To be considered for the skilled SEN Teaching Assistant position, you will: Have previous experience working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs, such as learning difficulties, autism, and sensory needs. Suitable qualifications such as Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools are desired but not essential. Have strong communications skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students. Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
