Job Summary

The interview date for this is 1st December 2025.

Our inclusive and diverse Pharmacy department has a strong clinical presence and an excellent reputation within the Trust. We have invested in robotics, state‑of‑the‑art dispensaries and electronic prescribing to drive innovation.


Responsibilities

* Lead the Haematology and Oncology clinical services as the senior pharmacist, ensuring compliance with national and local guidelines.
* Clinically verify chemotherapy prescriptions and liaise with oncologists and haematologists on dose optimisation.
* Actively participate in ward rounds, multidisciplinary team (MDT) discussions and haematology ward round.
* Collaborate with the Aseptic Services Department to manufacture and release treatments in a timely manner.
* Develop pharmacist‑led clinics to review and prescribe chemotherapy for patients at the Trust.
* Demonstrate strong leadership, service development, advanced clinical skills and excellent communication and teamwork.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* Vocational Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent.
* Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain.
* Diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent.
* Willingness to work towards a non‑medical prescribing qualification.
* Independent Prescribing Qualification (desirable).


Experience

* Extensive post‑qualification hospital pharmacy experience.
* Previous clinical experience in Haematology‑Oncology and treatment of solid tumours, SACT trained.
* Broad clinical experience and participation in multidisciplinary teams.
* Computer literacy and experience with SACT prescribing system CHEMOCARE (desirable).


Skills and Abilities

* Good written and oral communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Supervise and direct junior staff.
* Prioritise workload, problem‑solve, and mentor others.
* Work with drug budget information, protocol writing, budget management and cost (desirable).
* Leadership skills to influence and motivate others (desirable).

Additional Information

Applicants must have current UK professional registration. The post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The cost of the DBS (criminal records check) for Band 6 and above roles will be met by the successful candidate through salary deduction.
