About This Role
What skills and experience we’re looking for: This role is perfect for ECTs eager to kick‑start their careers, or for experienced teachers looking for a new opportunity.
The English Department
Our vibrant English Department is led by our Head of English and Second in Department, supported by a dynamic team of six teachers who bring a wealth of experience through a mix of full‑time, part‑time, and wider whole‑school roles. The department is a cohesive, mutually supportive and highly committed team that generates its own resources and centrally plans all programmes of study. Pupils follow a common skills‑driven scheme of work with differentiated activities and resources; formative assessment and upward differentiation are used to raise attainment. Key Stage 3 focuses on poetry, prose, drama and non‑fiction texts and is rich, varied, and engaging. At Key Stage 4, pupils cover challenging texts such as “A Christmas Carol”, “Macbeth”, “An Inspector Calls” and war and conflict poetry, and the department enters pupils for AQA GCSEs. At A‑Level, English Literature and English Language (EDEXCEL) are offered, with students exploring advanced literary works and creative writing.
