Why Choose This SEN Teaching Assistant Role?
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils who require patience, empathy, and consistency. This position offers full-time hours from 09:00 to 16:00 (with an early finish of 14:00 on Wednesdays) and is an excellent chance to gain valuable experience within a supportive specialist setting.

Key Responsibilities for SEN Teaching Assistant:

* Provide 1:1 and small-group support tailored to pupils’ emotional and behavioural needs
* Assist with behaviour regulation, engagement, and therapeutic approaches
* Support pupils’ learning across a range of subjects and activities
* Build trusting, positive relationships to encourage confidence and resilience
* Work collaboratively with teachers, mentors, and pastoral teams
* Foster a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment

Requirements for SEN Teaching Assistant:

* Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or challenging behaviour
* A calm, patient, and resilient approach to working with vulnerable learners
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Consistency, reliability, and a genuine commitment to pupil welfare
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply

What We Offer:

* Competitive daily pay rates
* Full-time, ongoing opportunity with potential for extension
* Supportive school team that values SEN expertise
* Training and guidance from GSL Education Kent’s specialist consultants
* Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on vulnerable young people

This SEN Teaching Assistant role requires a solid understanding of safeguarding and child protection. Successful applicants must satisfy all background checks, including an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or a new application.
