Overview
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Geomatics Analyst to join a small team processing survey data to support the delivery of National Elevation Data Programmes. You will be using specialist software and GIS to process and quality control data from Remote Sensing survey instrumentation, including an Airborne LIDAR Terrain Mapper.
Responsibilities
* Process survey data and perform quality control to support National Elevation Data Programmes.
* Use specialist software and GIS (ESRI products) to manage, analyse and interpret data from airborne LIDAR, aerial photography, bathymetry and satellite data.
* Contribute to the delivery of monitoring and evidence across the business, working with National and Area teams.
Experience / Skills Required
* Relevant degree level qualification in Geography, GIS, Environment or another relevant scientific discipline, or equivalent experience with an understanding of operational applications.
* Practical experience and broad GIS skills using ESRI products (such as ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap) and experience working with large and complex mapping datasets, preferably Airborne LIDAR.
* Experience in processing and quality control procedures on LIDAR datasets and LIDAR-derived Digital Elevation Models is advantageous.
* Experience in Remote Sensing techniques, analytical and problem-solving skills, and good attention to detail.
* Good organisational skills, high motivation, professional attitude, and ability to communicate effectively. Ability to work unsupervised at times to meet challenging deadlines.
Additional Information
* New starters to the Environment Agency are required to have an incident response role in addition to their day job. Working patterns can be chosen by the individual; day-job support is provided to enable incident response duties when required.
* The National Monitoring Survey team is national with bases around the country; you can be based anywhere near an EA office. Travel to the Geomatics team hub base in Bath will be required as needed. Full-time post with flexible working patterns; interviews in Bath, in-person.
* Interviews will consist of a technical GIS assessment and capability questions.
* Contract length: 17 months – Up to March 2027.
