We are currently looking for a Cost Engineer, to join a leading manufacturer of motorcycles based in the UK. This role will play a key part in ensuring accurate product costing, validating supplier quotations, and driving continuous cost optimisation across new and existing vehicle programmes. It’s an excellent opportunity for an experienced cost specialist who enjoys working cross‑functionally within a fast‑paced engineering environment.
The Cost Engineer will:
Prepare should‑cost calculations and cost estimates to validate supplier quotations for technology parts and build‑to‑print components.
Support cost negotiations in collaboration with the Purchasing team.
Provide target cost estimates and evaluations throughout new product development.
Analyse material costs, tooling investments, and assembly costs.
Set up and maintaining foreign exchange and raw‑material commodity indexation matrices.
Support make‑versus‑buy assessments, sourcing strategies, and supplier negotiations.
The Cost Engineer will have:
A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Automotive, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a Finance qualification (CIMA, ACA, ACCA).
7+ years’ experience in cost engineering, product costing, or should‑costing.
Experience within automotive, motorcycles, motorsport, aerospace, or premium/complex manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of machining, casting, forging, composites, and related manufacturing processes.
The ability to read engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications.
Strong analytical capability and excellent attention to detail.
