A Sterile Services Technician is responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, and sterilisation of medical instruments and equipment used in clinical procedures. The role ensures that all reusable items are processed to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety, supporting infection prevention and enabling healthcare teams to deliver safe patient care.
Key duties include operating cleaning and sterilisation equipment, maintaining accurate records, following strict protocols, and working collaboratively within a fast-paced, quality-controlled environment.
We currently have two vacancies available to join our team. The required working hours are:
1. Monday to Friday, 14:00–22:00
2. Monday to Friday, 16:00–00:00 (midnight)
Please note that both roles will also include some weekend and bank holiday work.

Main duties of the job
3. Decontaminate medical instruments using approved cleaning processes and equipment.
4. Inspect instruments for damage, completeness, and cleanliness.
5. Assemble instrument sets according to surgery or department requirements.
6. Package and wrap instruments for sterilisation.
7. Operate sterilisation equipment, such as autoclaves, washers, and dryers.
8. Monitor and record sterilisation cycles to maintain full traceability and compliance.
9. Store and distribute sterile sets to clinical areas in a timely manner.
10. Follow strict infection prevention and control protocols at all times.
11. Report faults or damaged equipment to senior staff.
12. Maintain a clean, safe working environment and adhere to quality assurance procedures.
