Good Evening,
I'm currently searching for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a Cambridge–based technology company developing advanced imaging and inspection systems used across sectors such as automotive, aerospace, semiconductors, and energy storage. This is a hands on, design focused role where you'll work on the mechanical design and development of precision components and assemblies, supporting both R&D and manufacturing teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and prototype mechanical components and sub assemblies using SolidWorks.
* Collaborate with scientists, suppliers, and manufacturing teams to refine designs.
* Maintain BOMs, drawings, and revision control documentation.
* Apply Design for Manufacture (DfM) principles and manage engineering changes.
About You
* 8+ years' experience in mechanical design or product development.
* Strong SolidWorks skills (sheet metal, solid body, technical drawings).
* Experience with mechanism design (ball screws, kinematic mounts) and stress calculations.
* Confident communicator across technical and cross functional teams.
Desirable: Knowledge of optics, electronics, or CE marking; prototyping experience (machining, 3D printing, soldering). Education: Minimum HNC in Mechanical Engineering.
