We are currently hiring a Laboratory Assistant to join our Early Phase team in Northwick Park, Harrow. This role is an on-site position with a mix of early and late shifts.
In this role you will;
1. Prepare, collect, process and label blood, urine, faecal and other specimens including simple laboratory procedures such as centrifugation, pipetting and weighing
2. Perform simple diagnostic laboratory tests including pregnancy tests, urinalysis, drugs of abuse
3. Supervise urine and faecal collections, measure/ weigh urine collection volumes/weights, weigh faecal collections
4. Use and maintain laboratory equipment (e.g. centrifuges, scales) safely and in accordance with relevant SOPs
5. Order and liaise with couriers to arrange sample shipments
6. Perform assays including ELISA, RT-PCR
7. Complete CRFs, laboratory records and capture other trial data as required
8. Collate CRFs, laboratory and other results and perform quality control checks to ensure they are complete and ready for review and approval by Research Physicians
9. Assist with daily maintenance of fridges and freezers and monitor temperatures through REES system and the weekly on-call system if required
10. Assist with regular maintenance, monitoring and calibration of laboratory equipment and devices
11. Assist with trial laboratory set-up and preparation, including completion of user acceptability tests ("dummy runs") and review of laboratory forms
12. Prepare trial laboratory source data for monitor and sponsor review and ensure timely resolution of queries
13. Attend relevant study meetings, deliver study specific training and actively participate in risk management and mitigation for the trail
14. Prepare and dispatch sample shipments according to approved timelines
15. Assist with laboratory related trial close out activities

17. Computer literate (MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook)
18. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
19. Ability to manage multiple and varied tasks with enthusiasm and prioritize workload with attention to detail
20. Willingness to work in a matrix environment and to value the importance of teamwork
21. Relevant experience of laboratory in the pharmaceutical industry and/or a research institute advantageous
22. A-Level in Science subjects (minimum requirement)
23. HND or Degree advantageous
