What you'll be doing Core Living the Balfour Beatty Values Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm Providing guidance to Apprentice and Graduate Engineers on Site Engineering skills Health Safety & Environmental Production of Work Package Plans and Task Briefing Sheets Hazard Identification and contribution to development of Safe System of Work Contribution to production of Permit to Dig using buried services. Carries out Safety Inspections Engineering Control Independently perform setting out and slope & track monitoring with Leica TS 16 from primary control Read and determine information from drawings, schedules and specifications and perform material take offs. Quality Production of Inspection Test Plans from design drawings Completion of quality Check Sheets Maintaining accurate records Production of as-built drawings & records for every element of the works involved in Productivity Works to Weekly Program (drafted by others) and marks up progress achieved weekly. Contributes to collection of data for Key Performance Indicators, including reasons for difference. Commercial Production of accurate daily diary of resources, including labor, plant, materials, subcontractors and actual vs planned outputs. Produces take offs and schedules of materials accurately, producing accurate and clear requisitions. Who we're looking for The following qualities and experience are required: Driving licence; Engineering Qualification (MEng, BEng, BSc or equivalent) in Civil/Structural/Geotechnical Engineering; Independently use a Total Station (Lecia TS-16) for setting out (and preferably have experience track and slope monitoring); Previous experience delivering multidisciplinary civil and structural engineering works; Strong team worker and ability to build relationships across the team; Strong written and verbal communication, be willing to support and teach Graduate and Apprentice Engineers onsite skills. Strong work ethic with flexibility to work unsociable hours/nights. The following qualities/experience are desirable: PTS Network Rail experience Experience on Geotechnical and Drainage Civil Works Competency using Auto-Cad Knowledge of NEC contracts Able to work on own initiative and seek out opportunities in line with level of responsibility.
