The Royal Institute of International Affairs is an independent policy institute based in London. Our mission is to help improve international relations in pursuit of a secure, prosperous, and just world. We do this through original research and by convening discussion, helped by our core teams and our global network of fellows. This is a pivotal moment at which to be considering the future options for Europe and Russia (and for neighbouring countries in the Caucasus and Central Asia which this programme also covers). The Trump Administration’s decisions have brought to a head challenges long building for Europe: about its own security, its competitiveness, the cohesion of the European Union and the future of Europe’s place in the world. The answers to that will come not just from traditional analysis of the workings of the European Union, but from considering the relations of countries in Europe in the widest sense. The outcome of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine remains unsettled and options for Ukraine’s future still open. For Russia, its changing relations with China, the US and global south countries will affect its own future, that of its neighbours and its future leadership. We seek an established thinker and leader to build on the institute’s powerful reputation and expertise in this area, to increase our influence and impact on the decisions that governments, companies and societies make on these fronts. This is an outstanding opportunity for an authoritative, imaginative policy expert to join us and lead one of our highest-profile streams of work, helping shape these decisions. We are an equal opportunity employer; we value diversity and do not discriminate on the basis of protected characteristics. We encourage applications from all backgrounds. If there is anything we can do to improve your experience or support you, please get in touch at HR@Chathamhouse.org.
