At FBD Consultancy Accounts & Tax Ltd, we’re a dynamic SME accounting firm with big ambitions—and we’re looking for a Payroll & Operations Manager who’s ready to help us scale smartly.

Now, we're looking for someone who can bring structure, strategy, and scalability to our operations—with a special focus on payroll excellence.

What You'll Do

As our Payroll & Operations Manager, you’ll be at the heart of our internal engine. You’ll oversee client and internal payroll, streamline day-to-day processes, and work closely with leadership to ensure we stay compliant, efficient, and client focused.

Key Responsibilities –

1.Payroll

* Manage end-to-end payroll processing across multiple clients.
* Maintain compliance with tax and employment regulations, keeping systems and records audit-ready.
* Lead and improve internal operations (workflow design, document management, time tracking, reporting, etc).
* Optimise the use of tools like Xero, QuickBooks, Bright, Sage, Moneysoft and other SME-friendly platforms.
* Support onboarding of new clients and staff from an operational perspective.
* Identify and implement process improvements that reduce bottlenecks and enhance service delivery.
* Collaborate directly with leadership and client teams—your voice will be heard.

2.Office Operations

* Manage end-to-end office operations across multiple clients.
* Maintain compliance statutory office and health & safety regulations, keeping systems and records audit-ready.
* Lead and improve internal operations (workflow design, document management, time tracking, reporting, etc).
* Oversee and assist in the optimisation of tools like Capium, Ignition, Inform Direct, PracticeTrack and other SME-friendly platforms.
* Lead on and oversee systems and procedures in connection with all visitors to the office.
* Take ownership of relationships with third party contractors and services, including telecoms, energy, property services, I.T. etc.
* Support onboarding and offboarding of clients from an operational perspective.
* Lead on and oversee systems and procedures in connection with health & safety.
* Lead on and oversee systems and procedures in connection with information security and cyber security.

What We're Looking For

* 3–5+ years of payroll and/or operations management experience, ideally in accounting or professional services.
* Strong understanding of small business payroll, including superannuation, leave, accruals etc.
* Comfortable working across multiple systems and accounts.
* Highly organized, detail-oriented, and solution-focused.
* A self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced SME environment.
* Some experience with process automation or Standard Operating Procedures development.
