As an Optical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of our optical practice. You will assist optometrists and opticians in providing exceptional patient care, ensuring that all clients receive the highest level of service. Your responsibilities will include managing patient interactions, assisting with eye examinations, and maintaining laboratory equipment.
Duties
- Greet and assist patients upon arrival, ensuring a welcoming environment.
- Prepare patients for eye examinations by taking preliminary measurements and recording medical history.
- Assist optometrists during examinations by providing necessary instruments and materials.
- Maintain and organise the optical laboratory, ensuring all equipment is clean and in good working order.
- Help patients select appropriate eyewear based on their needs and preferences.
- Process orders for lenses and frames, ensuring accuracy in specifications.
- Provide information on proper eyewear care and maintenance to patients.
- Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing patient records.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures related to optical equipment is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with basic anatomy related to vision and eye health is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members.
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in measurements and orders.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high standard of service.
