Teenage Helpline is an online peer-to-peer mentoring service for young people. We can act as the first stepping-stone for young people who do not feel comfortable seeking support for themselves, or who need a listening ear to help them cope with personal issues.
All of our volunteers and employees are remote workers. We have great systems in place to allow our employees and volunteers to get to know each other, work effectively together and do great work!
We are a flexible organisation that values the contributions of everyone. We will never ask more from our volunteers and employees than they can give, but we are sure to celebrate and recognise their efforts.
About the role
The Internal Audit & Controls Manager will help us examine current policies and procedures and help develop strategies to improve internal controls systems. You will meet with staff and management to collect information, analyse data, identify problems and weaknesses, and help management develop strategies to minimise or eliminate errors. You will also ensure that all strategies, policies, and procedures comply with current Government regulations.
Responsibilities
* Regularly partner with the Executive Team to understand their departmental operating structures and build controls checklists for each team
* Design and implement an audit schedule that is flexible to the volunteering nature of Teenage Helpline
* Conduct annual reviews of all organisational controls and policies to ensure they are up to date and meet best practice
* Partner with the Executive Team and other managers within Teenage Helpline to identify and close any gaps in practices versus agreed expectations
* Be the Risk Management point of contact for the charity, owning any risk registers and ensuring that they are kept up to date
* Act as an advisor to the charity on all things related to controls, audit and risk management.
Skills
* 2+ years’ of experience in a relevant field, including a demonstrable understanding of Charity operations and regulations
* In-depth industry knowledge regarding best practices, policies, current regulations and technology
* Exceptional research, planning, problem solving, critical thinking and maths skills.
* Excellent presentation, collaboration, and verbal and written communication skills.
* Proficient in common-use IT programs (i.e. Microsoft Packages)
* High level of efficiency, accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
