Electrical Project Manager – Data Centre (Harlow, Essex)

If you’re fed up of roles where you’re “managing” a job but not really controlling it, this is a proper delivery position on a live data centre campus where you own the electrical scope from coordination through to commissioning and handover.
James Lewis are assisting a leading, multi-disciplinary Principal Contractor in the appointment of an Electrical Project Manager to join the team on a major data centre project in Harlow, Essex. With a strong secured pipeline and repeat campus work, this is a long-term opportunity with real job security through to summer 2027 and beyond.
The project
You’ll be joining a live data centre campus with the current scheme forming the next hall/phase. Works are moving through the early build stages, with the programme running through to summer 2027 and further phases expected afterwards.
What you’ll do

Take full ownership of the electrical package, including delivery strategy, sequencing and interfaces with CSA, commissioning and client teams
*
Lead the electrical site team and supply chain: subcontractors, vendors and specialist contractors
*
Drive programme performance: short-term planning, lookaheads, progress reporting, constraints and recovery planning
*
Manage commercial and contract elements: support tender reviews, control variations/change, track cost/value, assist forecasting and payments
*
Ensure subcontractor compliance with HSEQ and demonstrate visible safety leadership with clear site reporting
*
Lead QA: inspections and ITPs, benchmarking, snagging/defects and close-out
*
Ensure installations are delivered in line with drawings, specifications and required standards
*
Own technical issues: RFIs/TQs, design clarifications, and close-outs with client/design teams
*
Control procurement: take-offs, requisitions, lead times, deliveries, materials and logistics
*
Compile and manage RAMS, ensuring documentation is current and works follow approved methods
*
Support testing, commissioning, IST and handover, including O&Ms, training and final documentation
*
Report clearly to the senior team on progress, risk, constraints and delivery status
What you’ll need
*
Proven experience delivering electrical packages on large-scale MEP or critical infrastructure projects (data centre experience preferred)
*
Strong subcontractor management with confidence across complex interfaces and high-spec installations
*
Comfortable owning programme and commercial control alongside technical delivery
*
Solutions-led communicator, confident in client-facing environments and driving close-out
*
AP/HV experience is an advantage, particularly in live or sensitive environments
*
Black CSCS card and SMSTS preferred for this level of role
