Job Summary

The successful candidate will work as a fully autonomous practitioner providing a comprehensive palliative radiotherapy service following an extensive period of training. You will work at an expert level, accepting direct referrals into the palliative service, undertake clinical assessment and examination, prescribe and plan the delivery of palliative radiotherapy.
Consultant radiographer roles are embedded into practice at Clatterbridge, proving to be a valued addition to the medical teams. The role allows a Therapeutic Radiographer to extend their skills and develop the four pillars of practice - expert clinical practice, professional leadership, education and service development.
The successful candidate will commence as band 8A whilst undertaking training following a defined development plan. Once all competencies have been reached, you will be moved into band 8B. This usually takes 12 months but can be flexible depending on existing experience and skills.
If you are registered as a Therapeutic Radiographer, enthusiastic about palliative radiotherapy, committed to providing excellent patient care, highly motivated, respond to dynamic situations and workload, have excellent time management skills and are looking for a change in direction, this job could be for you.
Main duties of the job
* To practice at an advanced level providing expert care for patients undergoing palliative radiotherapy.
* To provide a comprehensive therapeutic radiographer consultant service in Palliative oncology, improving service delivery to patients undergoing radiotherapy, optimising the use of existing and developing services.
* To lead the development of standards and guidelines related to practice of palliative radiotherapy within the MDT
* To prescribe within protocols and plan the delivery of palliative radiotherapy treatment.
* To act as an expert resource for primary care teams, ensuring continuity of care in the community.
* To act as an expert resource in the oncology department in the management of patients using palliative radiotherapy, providing support to colleagues within the MDT.
* The post holder will work in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team making contribution to palliative care services locally.
* Carry out audit and research in palliative radiotherapy and contribute to related areas.
* The post holder will contribute to the development of palliative radiotherapy services within the Trust and to both operational and strategic developments.
* Promote the role by publishing innovations and research in journals, and by presenting findings and developments at conference.
