GSL Education are seeking a committed and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in specialist and mainstream settings across Castleford. This Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistant role is perfect for someone who excels in a caring but demanding setting and is committed to supporting students in developing confidence, resilience, and self-esteem.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
* Helping students with SEMH needs engage in learning within a supportive and structured setting.
* Aiding the delivery of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and personalised behaviour strategies.
* Promoting consistent and positive behaviour management techniques.
* Developing strong, supportive relationships with students while serving as a positive role model.
* Working alongside teachers and the SENCO to provide targeted support and interventions.
* Encouraging active participation, regular attendance, and emotional development among students.
Skills & Requirements as an SEMH TA:
* Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural difficulties, or related needs.
* Capable of staying composed, compassionate, and encouraging in challenging situations.
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding protocols and child protection procedures.
* An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
* A CV covering the last 10 years with any gaps clearly explained.
