Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled part-time Senior Groom/Assistant Yard Manager for our DIY Equestrian Yard. This role is ideal for individuals who have a passion for animal care and possess a strong background in horses and their welfare. The Senior Groom will be responsible for ensuring the well-being of the horses, maintaining the yard, and managing various tasks that contribute to the smooth operation of the facility.
Responsibilities
* Provide daily care for horses, including feeding and health monitoring.
* Maintain the equestrian yard by performing regular cleaning and upkeep of stables and surrounding areas.
* Use hand tools and power tools for various maintenance tasks - training will be given.
* Assist in horticultural activities with include but are not limited to landscape maintenance electric fence maintenance.
* Perform heavy lifting as required when moving hay, straw and equipment.
* Conduct basic repairs on equipment to ensure functionality and safety and keeping all vehicles and yard machinery clean and tidy.
Requirements
* Proven experience in animal care, particularly with horses.
* Familiarity with horticulture practices is highly desirable.
* Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.
* Capability to perform heavy lifting as part of daily duties.
* Full clean driving licence.
* A proactive attitude towards maintenance tasks within the yard environment. Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £13.00-£16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 7 – 21 per week
