Production Planner
This role is with a client specialising in AS9100-accredited precision engineering services. You will be responsible for optimising material resources and production capacity to ensure on-time, in-full (OTIF) delivery to customers. The role aligns material planning with the operational strategy to support the fulfilment of the order schedule.
Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Production Planner. The successful candidate will manage material resources, production capacity, and the integration between MRP/ERP systems and manufacturing operations to achieve OTIF delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain and administer the Master Production Schedule (MPS) to ensure timely and accurate fulfilment of customer orders in line with AS9100 and NADCAP requirements
* Oversee the end-to-end flow of raw materials and work-in-progress (WIP) to align with production schedules, optimise inventory levels, and support uninterrupted manufacturing operations
* Maintain regular communication with Operations regarding any movement of WIP. All changes should be agreed upon in advance to ensure their impact is understood, properly integrated into the production schedule, and accurately updated in the system
* Develop and implement efficient, achievable production plans that optimise equipment utilisation and labour capacity
* Collaborate with Production teams to reduce cycle times, resolve bottlenecks, and enhance overall throughput and operational performance
* Drive activities that directly support the achievement of On-Time In-Full (OTIF) delivery targets
* Identify and escalate operational risks, resource constraints, or planning challenges to the Head of Business Systems in a timely manner
* Support the continuous improvement of the MRP system, ensuring processes remain aligned with operational needs and best practices in planning and scheduling
* Ensure the inbound raw material requirements view is regularly updated and refreshed to reflect the latest operational priorities and customer demands
* Monitor supplier deliveries effectively, ensuring accurate data capture, timely updates, and prompt escalation of any delays to the Supply Chain Manager
* Obtain and evaluate quotes in line with customer requirements
* Build and maintain positive, long-term relationships with vendors, while submitting monthly Supplier KPI feedback and maintaining the Approved Supplier list
* Maintain internal database/ERP system master data such as lead times
* Carry out Contract Review for Supply Chain
Qualifications
* ERP/MRP systems experience
* Production Planning & Scheduling
* Experience with AS9100 Rev D / NADCAP / ISO9001 desirable
* Data analysis
* Experience of working within aerospace and precision machining manufacturing environment is highly desirable
