Key Responsibilities Early Involvement & Design Development Act as design engineer during concept and definition stages. Provide engineering input into feasibility and conceptual design options. Undertake initial reviews of solution packages, identifying risks, issues or opportunities. Prepare solution pricing deliverables, scopes of work and design submissions. Review supplier bids and support creation of project budgets and programmes. Contribute to risk and opportunities registers and planning documentation. Detailed Design & Engineering Lead internal discipline design activities and manage subcontract design deliverables. Produce engineering specifications, technical documents and scopes of work. Manage service providers, equipment suppliers and MEICA subcontractors throughout the design and delivery phases. Participate in HAZOPs, ALMs and technical review workshops. Conduct site surveys and provide engineering support from concept to commissioning. Review OEM and packaged plant O&M documentation. Safety, Health & Environmental Ensure compliance with all SHE procedures and promote a strong safety culture. Support creation and review of RAMS, CPP and other site-specific safety information. Apply CDM responsibilities as both Designer and Principal Contractor support. Understand operational water facility constraints, safe isolation procedures and site risks. Procurement & Commercial Manage design and procurement activities within agreed budgets. Prepare requisitions for subcontractors, equipment and specialist services. Conduct technical and commercial assessments of bids. Identify value engineering opportunities and support efficient delivery planning. Programme & Quality Management Develop and manage engineering design and procurement programmes. Attend factory acceptance tests and inspections as required. Ensure compliance with all quality standards, including British/European Standards and WIMES. Conduct supplier performance reviews and maintain project quality records. Construction Support Provide engineering oversight throughout site delivery. Review subcontractor SHE documentation, construction methods and sequencing plans. Support collaborative planning, problem resolution and buildability assessments. Ensure works are delivered safely within operational constraints. Ongoing Project & Stakeholder Management Attend regular design, progress and coordination meetings. Provide consistent project reporting into internal systems. Escalate risks, issues or blockers promptly to Project Managers. Support internal and external audits as required. Candidate Profile Essential Skills & Experience HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical, Electrical or related engineering discipline. Strong MEICA background within the water industry. Knowledge of CDM (Designer & Principal Contractor responsibilities). Experience managing designs, subcontractors and suppliers. Strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes. Good commercial awareness and problem-solving skills. Confident communicator with strong stakeholder and team leadership skills. Ability to prioritise, adapt and manage multiple workstreams.
