Offer description

Coombe Farm is a dairy farm located near Ivybridge, South Devon, covering over 300 acres of mainly grassland, with approximately 15 acres of fodder beet grown annually. The farm houses 250 pedigree Jersey cows, along with beef cattle and followers, totaling 600 head. The cattle are housed in cubicles and fed a Total Mixed Ration (TMR).

The farm features a recently refurbished 20:20 Rapid exit parlour, part of over £300,000 invested in facilities including handling facilities, a robot silage pusher, dairy and parlour upgrades, tracks, and fencing.

All milk is processed on-site at an award-winning Creamery that produces various products under its own brand and supplies major supermarkets such as M&S, Waitrose, Morrisons, and Aldi.

We are offering an exciting opportunity for someone eager to develop a career in dairy farming to join our dedicated team at Coombe Farm. This role provides an ideal pathway to learn and progress in agriculture while achieving a Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard as a Livestock Technician.

The team is friendly and committed to high standards, achieving industry-leading results in mastitis, lameness, fertility, calf mortality, and more.

The successful candidate will:

1. Be motivated, responsible, and take pride in their work, with a considerate attitude toward livestock.
2. Be willing to participate in milking, with training provided in cattle husbandry, field work, machinery operation, and maintenance.
3. Hold a valid UK driving licence and have own transport, as on-site accommodation is currently occupied.

What you will bring to the role:

1. Previous experience in the agriculture sector.
2. Willingness to learn and contribute actively.
3. Punctuality, reliability, and readiness to work.
4. Good planning and organizational skills.
5. Problem-solving abilities.
6. Initiative and physical fitness.

Working arrangements include 40 hours per week on a rota, including every other weekend.

The apprenticeship pay rate is the National Minimum Wage for Apprentices (£7.55 per hour).
