Job Overview
Whipps Cross University Hospital is looking to recruit a Healthcare Support Worker (HCA) Band 3 who will work in the Surgery & Cancer Division. This post is open to both experienced Health Support Workers and those new to care. New staff will receive support to complete Band 3 competencies and progress into a Band 3 role within six months upon successful completion of all required competencies.
Key Responsibilities
* Routine maternal observations (e.g., monitoring vital signs)
* Undertake a limited range of delegated clinical care duties (taking blood pressure, recording ECG, MRSA screening)
* Assist with personal care and mobility
* Support patients’ and newborns’ nutritional and hydration needs
* Work within a challenging clinical environment, including shift work that may include nights and weekends
* Develop essential competencies through training and practice under direct supervision of the ward manager
Qualifications & Requirements
Applicants must:
- Pass an online literacy and numeracy test;
- Be able to work shifts that may include nights and weekends;
- Have no requirement for visa sponsorship (sponsorship cannot be provided);
- Receive support to achieve Band 3 competencies within six months;
- Hold a Band 2 salary until Band 3 competencies are achieved.
