Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Project Manager to work with Energy on the Norwich to Tilbury scheme, as part of our delivery of the Great Grid partnership (GGP). The project is currently mobilising teams to support early works, including DCO support, ahead of site commencement in mid‑2027. Construction works are planned between mid‑2027 and mid‑2031.
Responsibilities
- Fully accountable for delivery, ensuring safety, time, contract compliance and budget.
- Overall management and coordination of project delivery across multiple disciplines.
- Set project standards and ensure requirements are identified and met.
- Identify and resolve issues in a controlled, timely manner.
- Plan, review and deliver contract programmes.
- Line‑manage Project, Construction Site and Engineering Managers.
- Effectively manage client relationships and provide updates to stakeholders.
- Ensure operating plans secure sufficient resources and materials.
- Resolve operational issues; refer business‑critical matters to the Project Director.
- Own all commercial activities, including gross margin, cost control and key financial metrics.
- Manage subcontractor performance against commercial and cost targets.
Qualifications
- Experience delivering HV Transmission & Distribution or major civils projects.
- Experience in a Project Managerial role.
- HNC/HND, NVQ Level 5 or a degree.
- Experience working on complex multi‑discipline enhancement projects, meeting programme and cost controls.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to build close relationships with clients and subcontractors.
