Overview
We are seeking a highly capable Fleet Operations Lead to take ownership of a fleet of approximately 750 vehicles across multiple operational companies. This individual contributor position plays a pivotal role in overseeing daily fleet operations, ensuring compliance, driving cost efficiencies, and leading environmental initiatives across the division.
Location
Leicester; full-time role with occasional travel to operational sites. Hybrid/flexible arrangement.
Responsibilities
* Ensure full compliance with UK vehicle legislation, HSE standards, ESG reporting, and accreditation schemes (e.g. FORS)
* Maintain up-to-date records for all vehicles and drivers, including Tax, MOT, servicing, and insurance
* Lead on audits, inspections, and fleet-related risk assessments
* Manage the procurement, replacement, and disposal of vehicles, working with divisional MDs and external providers
* Monitor vehicle utilization and deployment, providing insights to optimise fleet efficiency
* Manage third-party supplier relationships (fleet, maintenance, telematics, insurance, fuel), holding vendors accountable for service levels and cost control
* Collaborate with finance and operations to plan and manage fleet budgets (CapEx/OpEx)
* Champion initiatives to reduce environmental impact while maintaining an effective and fit-for-purpose fleet
Requirements
* Demonstrable experience managing fleets of 500+ vehicles
* Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation, fleet compliance, and accreditation schemes (e.g. FORS or similar)
* Skilled in using fleet management systems, data analytics, and telematics
* Proven track record in vendor management and contract negotiation
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
