Overview
This is an exciting new position within the Clinical Equipment Advice Team (based at Medequip). The role supports the clinical management of the Community Equipment Service provision, assisting equipment prescribers from multiple professions and organisations to deliver a highly effective community equipment service. The post holder will contribute to development work as determined by CDDFT Community Services and the Community Equipment Service Partnership Board, providing community equipment to adults in community settings and children in both home and educational settings across County Durham and Darlington.
Responsibilities
* Support the clinical advice team in reviewing/authorising equipment orders, re‑issuing special equipment and facilitating the community equipment training programme.
* Provide a high level of support and advice in relation to equipment provision from a therapeutic/nursing perspective, including in‑person assessments when required.
* Support service developments within the community equipment service and undertake evidence‑based audits to enhance clinical practice within the specialism.
* Make recommendations to the Clinical Lead that may lead to implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service protocols.
* Act as an autonomous practitioner with the freedom to act, being personally, professionally and legally accountable for the services provided to patients and for Associate Practitioners, Care, and Therapy Support workers.
* Develop and maintain close working relationships with the community equipment provider (currently Medequip) and equipment prescribers from multiple agencies.
Qualifications
* Must be able to produce all certificates stated as essential in the person specification.
