As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Strategic Growth Office Aumni team, you will lead a technical area and drive impact across teams, technologies, and projects. Utilize your deep knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to oversee complex projects and initiatives, serving as a primary decision-maker and a driver of innovation and solution delivery. Aumni is at the intersection of entrepreneurship and venture capital, creating a unique platform with data and tools for VC investors. Reporting directly to the Global Head of Engineering, you will oversee the business segment where most of our customers register.
Job Responsibilities
* Partner with Product and Revenue organizations to prioritize the roadmap.
* Provide leadership to three globally distributed teams, approximately 20 people, with plans for further growth this year.
* Collaborate with Product teams to understand the roadmap and requirements, set priorities, and work with Engineering Managers to ensure delivery.
* Participate in the Architecture governance board to gain a comprehensive view across the entire application landscape.
* Lead technology and process implementations to meet functional technology objectives.
* Be accountable for decisions affecting teams' resources, budgets, operations, and the execution of processes and procedures.
* Govern coding standards, control obligations, and success metrics such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations.
* Deliver technical solutions that are scalable across multiple businesses and domains.
* Influence peer leaders and senior stakeholders across business, product, and technology teams.
* Champion the firm's culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
* Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and extensive practical experience. Proven experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical challenges within your domain. Education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields.
* Experience with Java or Kotlin on the backend and React on the frontend.
* Experience leading cross-functional technical teams.
* Proven ability in hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
* Experience managing managers within a product-driven engineering environment.
* Hands-on cloud-native experience on at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP).
* Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and conditions, managing complexity and learning new technologies rapidly.
* Strategic thinking to select suitable technologies based on end goals.
* Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices using frameworks like Spring Boot.
* Experience working on globally distributed applications with strict consistency requirements.
* Knowledge of modern software architecture patterns.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
* Experience with GraphQL and Kafka is advantageous.
