Key Accountabilities
Reporting to the SHEQ Manager UK and a key member of the SHEQ Senior Management Team, the SHEQ Manager leads a culture prioritizing health, safety, and environmental responsibility. The role involves strategic and hands-on activities to foster new thinking, behaviors, and culture, developing hazard risk management systems aligned with business goals to monitor safety, health, environmental quality, and corporate risks with the aim of zero injuries and environmental protection.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver strategic SHEQ plans to meet current and future business needs and achieve high safety and environmental performance.
2. Develop and implement plans to ensure compliance with legislation and business strategies.
3. Lead, support, and coach the SHEQ team, working closely with operational leaders.
4. Manage SHEQ coordinators, ensuring they are supported, trained, and motivated.
5. Ensure SHEQ procedures and systems are understood and complied with across the business.
6. Implement safety and environmental policies, programs, training, and procedures.
7. Write environmental documents such as fire prevention plans and environmental management systems.
8. Research market developments and propose value-adding initiatives.
9. Conduct audits and reviews to ensure service levels meet or exceed industry standards.
10. Ensure proper reporting and investigation of incidents and non-conformities.
11. Monitor safety and environmental data, corrective actions, and lessons learned.
12. Facilitate monthly governance meetings and produce performance reports.
13. Promote the company's vision and values to stakeholders.
14. Develop relationships with operational leaders and ensure compliance with group requirements.
15. Monitor external developments, participate in industry forums, and implement best practices.
16. Foster innovation within SHEQ and share best practices within the business.
Training/Qualifications
* Experience in a similar role, leading safety culture transformation in a multi-location, technical, and operational environment.
* NEBOSH General Certificate qualified.
* Willingness to pursue or currently pursuing NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
* WAMITAB Level 4 in Waste Management.
* Understanding of ISO standards with auditing experience.
* Experience developing SHEQ KPIs for improvement.
* Experience dealing with regulatory bodies and external clients.
* Financial literacy.
* Effective communicator with strong decision-making skills.
* Self-motivated with good presentation skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office.
* Full driving license.
Salary
Circa £48K plus car or car allowance. 24 days plus bank holidays.
