Founded in 1978, Clark Contracts Ltd is a privately owned main contractor with several operating divisions including Construction, Fit Out, Small Works, Retail, Housing and Maintenance. The company employs over 250 people with offices in the East and West of Scotland. As part of our growth, we are seeking a Technical Bid Writer to support our Construction, Housing and Retail divisions to deliver largescale projects across the UK.
Role & Responsibilities
* The Technical Bid Writer will produce high-quality, persuasive technical content for bids and tenders within the construction industry, collaborating with Contracts, Design, Commercial and Estimating teams to communicate capability, methodology and approach to project delivery.
* Translate complex technical information into clear, concise bid responses and demonstrate a deep understanding of construction processes and programmes.
* Bid Strategy: contribute to bid strategies that reflect competitive advantages, technical expertise and innovative solutions. Analyse project briefs, client specifications and tender documents to produce accurate content; collaborate with Estimating through the bid.
* Review tender bills, prelims and project briefs to identify risk and opportunity; review subcontractor and supplier enquiries; engage with key trades and the Design Team.
* Programme Development: create detailed project programmes from concept to construction, ensuring milestones are achievable and align with client expectations.
* Technical Content Creation: write detailed bid responses covering construction methodologies, bid programme, buildability, logistical challenges, specific technical questions, risk register, site visit reports, tender interviews, and alternative proposals including value engineering and optioneering.
* Collaborative Bid Development: work with Estimating, Commercial, Design, and Health and Safety to gather and integrate input for buildability and commercial viability.
* Risk Management: identify potential project risks and provide mitigation strategies.
* Value Engineering: contribute to exercises to achieve cost savings without compromising quality or timelines.
* Relationship Management: develop long-term client relationships through the bid process.
* Compliance and Quality Assurance: ensure bid documentation meets client specifications, industry standards and company guidelines; review and edit content for accuracy and compliance.

* Adaptable and forward-thinking: flexible and solution-oriented, with initiative.
* IT Proficient: strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and other relevant software tools.
Location
This is a full-time, permanent position based at our Head Office in Paisley; travel may be required as business needs dictate.
