Salary: FTE GBP 24,027 - GBP 24,404 per annum, Pro-rata GBP 9,022 - GBP 9,329 per annum
Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 - 10:00 (flexible hours considered to suit the right candidate)
The Primary School and Nursery are members of the Education Trust, an expanding multi-academy trust with 13 primary and 9 secondary schools.
The Role
The school caretaker will report to the headteacher and office manager, responsible for security management of both school sites, maintaining school buildings and outdoor areas, ensuring furniture, fittings, and outdoor play equipment are safe and compliant with HSE standards, and maintaining the school's appearance inside and out.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as a key holder, managing minor security and safety issues, including contractor access during school holidays.
* Prepare the school site, premises, rooms, and work areas, including operation of heating and lighting systems.
* Conduct monthly Legionella testing (training provided).
* Perform weekly flushing tests.
* Inspect and record the condition of play equipment monthly.
* Test fire alarms weekly at both sites.
* Carry out porterage duties, including setting up furniture and equipment for activities without direct instructions.
* Undertake basic DIY tasks, acting as a competent handyman.
* Report major repairs to the Office Manager.
* Interact courteously and helpfully with staff, parents, pupils, and visitors.
* Meet and oversee contractors and deliveries during school holidays.
* Maintain health and safety practices and policies, understand COSHH regulations, and keep necessary records.
* Willing to undertake relevant training.
* Attend meetings with the Schools Property Maintenance Adviser and prepare maintenance schedules as needed.
