Our core business activities are teaching and learning, widening access to education, research and innovation and technology and knowledge transfer.
THE ROLE
The Research Associate will contribute to the investigation and characterisation of advanced two-dimensional materials within the framework of the MF-OL--KPFM methodology. The role focuses on materials synthesis, preparation, and nanoscale characterisation of van der Waals materials, including graphene and transition metal dichalcogenides. The postholder will conduct experimental measurements, collaborate with team members on calibration and parameter optimisation of the technique, and apply complementary characterisation methods to validate the results obtained using the proposed KPFM approach. The role will support the development of a comprehensive understanding of charge transport, surface potential dynamics, and photovoltage behaviour in advanced materials for next-generation electronic and energy devices. This position is funded through a UKRI FLF Fellowship and thus offers opportunities for further training and career development. The provisional start date for this position is 1st July 2026.
