A fantastic and exciting opportunity has arisen within Midlothian Justice Services for a full-time Justice Practitioner. The successful candidate will work as a member of the Justice Social Work team supporting the delivery of interventions to reduce reoffending whilst supporting health and wellbeing through inclusion and reintegration with their local communities. Alongside working with adults in contact with the Justice system, the successful candidate will also work with children and young people whose parents/carers are involved in the Justice system, including those identified within the Caledonian System. Justice Practitioners will also be involved in supporting the delivery of non-statutory justice provision, including early intervention and prevention activities. This may include working with people who are subject to Structured Deferred Sentences, supporting those on HDC/electronic monitoring, and undertaking any other relevant tasks.

Knowledge
The successful candidate must meet the following essential criteria:
1. Educated to HNC social care and SVQ Level 3 or equivalent with a relevant discipline.
2. Experience of working with the national and local practice, policy, procedure, and legislation relevant to the post. This includes an awareness of the SSSC Code of Practice, Human Rights legislation, Adult Support and Protection.
3. Experience of working with adults and families, and trauma-based interventions.
4. Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of key agencies.
Desirable:
1. Experience and training in delivering restorative justice interventions, and/or
2. Experience and training in delivering the Caledonian System.
Midlothian Justice Services are co-located with statutory partners in the Substance Use Service, Psychological Therapy Service, Intensive Home Treatment Team, Community Mental Health, and the Joint Mental Health Team. Third sector partners also co-located in Number 11 include MELD, Health in Mind, and Change, Grow, Live. The post will be mainly office-based but there is an option to work from home with the agreement of your line manager. The working pattern for this post will be with the mutual agreement of the successful candidate and the recruiting manager.
Skills
A valid full driving licence is considered essential for this post.
