Role Overview
Southwark Council is seeking a skilled and proactive Legal Assistant to support their busy legal team on the Buy Back 50 Project. This temporary role offers a unique opportunity to work on residential property transactions and contribute to a high-impact housing initiative.

Responsibilities
* Draft legal documents including Agreements and Deeds of Surrender
* Manage files from initiation to completion
* Complete SDLT and HM Land Registry applications
* Support other property-related transactions (e.g., Right to Buy)
* Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders
* Initially office-based, with hybrid working (2–3 days in office)
Requirements
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in property law or residential transactions
* Strong drafting and file management skills
* Familiarity with SDLT and Land Registry processes
* Transferable skills across housing and property legal work
* Confident IT user with ability to learn new systems
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
* Professional communication and client-handling abilities
