Team - Fostering, Supervision and Support
Location - Totnes, South Devon
Our Fostering, Supervision and Support Service is looking for an Advanced Social Work Practitioner to help lead and support our expert team of Social Workers in South Devon.
As an Advanced Social Worker you will work closely with the Team Manager for Fostering South to provide professional leadership and supervision to colleagues within your team. Supporting the day-to-day operations of the team, you will contribute to an effective and efficient service for children and families.
This is a hands-on role, where you have a smaller but more complex caseload, working with children and young people with a complexity of needs, including undertaking in-depth assessments.
Through supervision and mentoring, you will share your knowledge and experience with colleagues and students to continually improve practice standards within your team.
Skills and Experience
Our Advanced Social Workers provide a lead social work role within each of our teams, supporting the development of good evidence-based practice.
With substantial post-qualifying experience and the ability to demonstrate that you’re working in line with the BASW PCF framework, your skills and experience will include:
1. Demonstrate the ability to work holistically with foster families, supporting children with complex needs within a multi-agency environment
2. Have evidence of substantial post-qualifying training and development
3. Be able to lead improvement and challenge the quality of social care practice in a constructive manner
4. You will also need to either be a Practice Educator or willing to undertake the relevant training at the earliest opportunity
5. Champion high standards of professional social work practice
6. Encourage and support opportunities for reflection and learning, delivering on-the-job training, coaching, and mentoring to unqualified/alternatively qualified staff, students, and less experienced social workers

Our Fostering service plays an integral part in Devon County’s role as a corporate parent by ensuring that all placements for children and young people in Devon are safe, nurturing and thriving.
Comprised of three teams, Exeter & East, North & Mid and South, our Fostering Service works with appropriate regard to National Minimum Standards for Fostering, Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011, and other relevant legislation to provide support, advice and supervision to foster carers throughout the county.
