Purpose of Job: Interpretation of clients design requirements through liaison with their designers, architects and project team. Co-ordination of design development at various stages of project from estimation to production. Keeping design as functional and efficient as possible for Carella factory and site teams. Key Responsibilities: Working to assist in design issues, programming of your allocated design work and time scales in line with business needs. Be commercially aware in all decisions, material selection and design solutions etc. Ensure proposed project design delivers maximum profitability. (Discuss with commercial team). Providing design advice e.g., on building regulations, fire protection, etc. Produce clear, concise, accurate drawings in accordance with deadline/programme as required and to QA standards. Carry-out site surveys for dimensional surveys, access ways and site readiness as required. Attend meetings re: design (and prepare for such meetings accordingly). Proactively close-out design issues, that are best suited for Carella. Keep adequate records e.g., RFI responses and keep flow of information moving. Work with Factory and Site operatives to deliver best possible product. Liaise with Project team regarding the issue and sourcing of samples for approval on contracts. Work as part of a design team when required to help meet deadlines for projects With the help of other designers train and support new employees within the business to become independent designers able to run their own projects during their first 6 months probationary period and beyond as required. Assist with quarterly stock takes. Accurately fill in requisition forms to allow for efficient buying power. In conjunction with the rest of the design team and relevant factory and site operatives/ Manager develop a Carella standard design package where applicable. I.e., IPS, Vanity units, Lab furniture and any other elements that can be standardised. These standard drawings will serve as a guide for all to work from. It is to standardise how we draw, i.e., line weights, scales, set up of title block and labelling to the drawing. This must be done with the buy in of all relevant parties. Prepare cutting lists for the factory on your projects/ double check everything before it is released to the factory for manufacture. As a team coordinate when holidays are being booked to ensure there is always design cover before seeking approval. Undertake any other duties within your sphere of knowledge, experience or competency as requested.
