About Properoni


The company (Estom) has a 90-year history in the UK, importing and distributing specialty food products from Hungary. It began with two Hungarian founders who set up various trading businesses, initially focusing on fruits, vegetables, and some cured meats.


For the last 30 years, the company has concentrated on growing its cured meat business, especially in the pepperoni sector, and has recently pivoted from being solely an ingredient supplier (to customers such as Pizza Express, Ask Italian, Zizzi, Crosta Mollica and White Rabbit), to becoming a branded business and launching the PROPERONI brand into the retail channel (Tesco & Ocado).


Our mission is to rid the world of mediocre pepperoni. PROPERONI stands as a testament to doing things properly: no artificial additives, no nitrites, just naturally fermented, beechwood smoked pork, paprika, and spices. Every slice reflects 150+ years of craftsmanship. We're not just selling pepperoni - we're reigniting passion for what this category can be, proving that clean ingredients and exceptional taste aren't mutually exclusive.


The Role

We are seeking an ambitious, commercially astute leader to drive our commercial agenda and deliver our growth plans. You will own and execute Properoni’s commercial strategy across retail, food service and eCommerce channels. Your primary focus will be to maintain momentum on listings and growth plans with existing customers, and capitalising on new opportunities to drive the business growth.


Key Responsibilities


Drive Commercial Growth:

* Take full ownership of commercial targets, focusing on delivering listings and growth with existing customers across retail, food service and eCommerce.

Account Management:

* Maintain and strengthen relationships with key customers, ensuring high levels of service and delivery against commercial objectives.

Strategic Planning:

* Execute and adapt commercial strategies to meet business goals, identifying new opportunities for expansion and optimisation.

Team Leadership:

* Lead, motivate, and develop the commercial team, ensuring alignment with Properoni’s values and growth ambitions.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

* Work closely with marketing, operations, and finance to ensure cohesive execution of business plans.

Reporting & Analysis:

* Monitor performance, provide regular updates to the leadership team, and make data-driven recommendations.


About You


Experience:

* Proven track record (7+years) in commercial roles within FMCG, ideally with a start-up or challenger brand.
* Experience operating across retail, food service and eCommerce channels.
* Demonstrable success in delivering commercial growth and securing new listings.

Skills:

* Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
* Excellent relationship builder, able to “speak the language of sales.”
* Analytical mindset with the ability to turn data into actionable insights.
* Confident communicator, able to influence at all levels.

* Ambitious, resilient, and adaptable.
* Entrepreneurial spirit and a hands-on approach.
