Drivers Mate

Hours: Adhoc covering holidays and sickness, arly starts from 4:00am

We are currently recruiting Drivers Mates to assist with kitchen and white goods deliveries across the UK. Working from our Darlington depot, you will be part of a two-person delivery team, providing a high-quality, room-of-choice delivery service to residential customers.
Our client is a third-party provider of transportation and logistics services that offers a range of services from, Drayage, Global freight forwarding & Full truckload transport. The company is committed to environmental sustainability and works with customers to create action plans to reduce emissions.
This is a physically demanding role with early starts and long days. Applicants must be physically fit and capable of heavy lifting (up to 5 tonnes per day), often involving stairs or flats. A valid UK Driving Licence is essential, as you may be required to drive a van.
What you'll do on a typical day:
1. Assisting Drivers on unloading and loading deliveries - carrying products for delivery
2. Multidrop - number of drops differ from day to day
3. Home deliveries will consist of delivering to room of choice for residential customers. Applicants must be aware that this may entail carrying items up to homes which are several stories up.
4. Kerbside deliveries, such as to building sites, where driver will be handballing items from truck and passing them directly to individuals on the site.
5. It is ESSENTIAL that you are physically fit to carry out this role.
6. As you will be dealing with customers directly, you must have a good manner be a good communicator.
7. Delivering items such as white goods (dishwashers, washing machines, fridges etc), kitchen units & worktops.
What you need to succeed with our client:
8. Multidrop delivery experience.
9. Able to get along with your driver - get along with your customers.
10. A can-do attitude.
