Job Description:
We’re champions of the North West and we’re proud that it’s our electricity network that connects communities and helps keep the electricity flowing every minute of every day, from when you wake up to when you fall asleep and all the hours in between.
A key part of the UK’s journey to net zero carbon is the revolution of our electricity industry to enable clean, green economic growth. As the North West’s electricity network operator, it’s our responsibility to lead the way, help the region decarbonise and pave the way for the growth of renewable energy and a sustainable energy future for all.
We’re proud that in December 2024 we were named Utility of the Year by Utility Week magazine who said we punched above our weight and used innovation to solve some of the industry’s most difficult challenges. Come and be part of our team and make a difference.
Together we have the energy to transform our communities. We are switched on. We are adaptable. We take pride.
The Transmission team has an opportunity for a Project Manager to join them in Blackburn.
About the Opportunity
As a Project Manager you will be responsible for the development and successful delivery to time, cost, and scope targets of a varied portfolio of projects related to Electricity North West’s Transmission system.
Working with switchgear, transformers, overhead line, cable, and protection systems, at voltages up to 132kV, you will manage all aspects of your projects during their life cycle, including scope development, cost, programme, design, planning, approval, construction, commissioning, commercial management, final handover and closure.
In this Project Manager (Transmission) role, you can expect to:
* Ensure that the value of work and costs (and thereby accruals) are correctly recognised in Chime and SAP, reviewing, and confirming this on a monthly basis in line with ENW policy. Chime data input in support of this responsibility is to be actioned through the Project Controllers.
* Understand and clarify project needs with Electricity North West’s Asset Management section.
* Establish and lead Project Teams to ensure projects are developed and executed appropriately.
* Develop project scope, estimate and programme to meet key dates, outputs and target costs.
* Obtain and expedite project approvals at key milestones.
* Manage projects throughout the construction phase, including scope clarification and changes, maintaining programmes, value of work and key date forecasts.
* Fulfill the role of CDM Principal Designer for each of your projects.
* Manage the relationship with third party contractors working on allocated projects.
* Ensure all work complies with Health and Safety legislation and Electricity North West Codes of Practice.
* Respond to Finance reviews and testing of project status on a timely basis.

* Strong project management skills, including resource management, project costing, and conflict resolution.
* Experience managing high-value technical projects involving multiple disciplines.
