Who will you be working with?
We are seeking an Engineering Technician to join our team in Birkenhead. The Birkenhead site supports our customers through maintenance and operation optimisation with customised solutions for spare parts, repair, and overhaul activities on existing trains for brake discs, brake pads, brake blocks, and self‑contained dynamic brake systems.
Contract Type: Permanent, Full‑Time
How will you make a difference?
You’ll play a key role in supporting engineering activities across operations, quality, and customer service. From product testing and rig validation to documentation and field support, your work will help ensure the reliability and performance of rail systems across the UK and Ireland.
What will your typical day look like?
* Support investigations and testing of returned products
* Assist with rig validation and operator training
* Interpret technical documentation to support operations
* Create and modify overhaul instructions, test specifications, and technical reports
* Prepare technical offers based on condition assessments
* Support new product introduction and contract/non‑contract activities
* Provide occasional field support (e.g. disc measurement, brake testing, commissioning)
* Interface with internal and external stakeholders on engineering progress
* Maintain and update internal systems (Movex, DDM, Teamcenter)
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
What do we want to know about you?
* HNC or BTEC in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
* Strong mechanical and pneumatic experience
* Basic electrical fault‑finding skills
* Good communication and problem‑solving abilities
* Experience with Microsoft Office and Teams
* Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks
* Experience with CAD systems (e.g. Catia, SolidWorks)
* Understanding of hydraulic and advanced electrical principles
