Your role:
News UK in embarking on a new chapter of data growth. With the introduction of the company’s AI strategy and the growing need to support brands in achieving data-powered product growth, the News UK’s Data team needs to ensure it is structured to respond effectively.
The Data Technology team operates across London, Sofia and Bangalore, developing data platforms, front-end data products and predictive models. We specialise in capturing and utilising data to drive growth and revenue. Our work supports newsroom editors, marketing, advertising and product teams through creative technical solutions that underpin our global news delivery.
We are seeking an experienced (mid-level) Business Analyst to lead a strategic digital analytics implementation project. The successful candidate will oversee the development and deployment of new tracking solutions, manage the transition from legacy systems, and collaborate with technical teams to ensure seamless data collection across our digital platforms.
This role supports a strategic initiative to modernise our digital analytics infrastructure. The transformation aims to enhance data reliability. The successful candidate will drive this important change initiative, aligning with our broader technology strategy that prioritises simplified data and operational efficiency.
Day to day you will:
1. Lead requirements gathering and analysis for digital analytics solutions across web and mobile platforms through stakeholder workshops and gap analysis
2. Create detailed technical documentation covering solution design, implementation approach and migration strategies
3. Work closely with delivery and engineering teams to translate business requirements into actionable technical specifications
4. Develop and support transition planning between systems, including comprehensive risk assessment and mitigation strategies
5. Ensure data quality and consistency throughout the implementation and migration processes
6. Create training materials and support documentation for various stakeholder groups
7. Coordinate user acceptance testing and provide post-implementation support to business users
What we’re looking for from you:
8. Proven experience as a Business Analyst within Agile environments
9. Experience with tag management systems like Google Tag Manager
10. Must have a strong understanding of web and mobile analytics implementations and data collection methodologies
11. Familiarity with JavaScript, JSON schema and SQL, together with the ability to validate data across different systems
12. Experience with data layer design and implementation for analytics tracking
13. Ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
14. Experience supporting cross-platform implementations (web, iOS, Android)
15. Strong facilitation and communication skills with the ability to manage stakeholder expectations
16. Experience with the full technology delivery lifecycle in an agile/iterative environment
17. Proficiency with JIRA or similar project tracking tools
18. Knowledge of data governance and data quality management desirable, but not essential
19. Understanding of cloud-based data warehouses and architectures (AWS/GCP) desirable, but not essential
