Senior Process Engineer
Contract – Approximately 6 months
Full-Time | 40 hours/week (8-hour days)
Location: Knutsford, Cheshire (WA16)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to join our client's Projects team on a contract basis for around six months. This is a full-time role based in Knutsford, Cheshire. You will play a key role in delivering process engineering solutions, working on high-profile, highly regulated contracts within the nuclear sector. While previous nuclear experience is beneficial, it is not essential if you have worked within other highly regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities
* Lead process engineering aspects of projects, including design, proposals, and consultancy activities
* Supervise process engineers and manage project budgets, schedules, and resources
* Approve process engineering drawings (P&IDs) and calculations
* Develop process basis of design and control philosophies
* Ensure compliance with relevant safety and regulatory standards in a highly regulated environment
* Manage client relationships in a technical capacity
* Support and develop junior engineers and project teams
What We’re Looking For
* Degree in Chemical Engineering
* Chartered status preferred or willingness to work towards it
* Security Clearance (SC) essential and must be maintainable
* Proven skills in process engineering design including PFDs, energy and mass balances, P&IDs, simulations, and hydraulic calculations
* Experience with equipment specification (pumps, tanks, reactors, columns, instrumentation, heat exchangers, line sizing)
* Knowledge of relief, blow down valve, and flare system sizing
* Experience working on safety-critical or regulated projects/environments
* Familiarity with UK nuclear legislation, safety cases, and engineering standards
* Strong team leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
* Knowledge of Designer and Principal Designer roles under CDM regulations
* Proficient in Office 365, including Word, Excel, OneDrive, and SharePoint
* Eligible to live and work in the UK with a full UK/EEC driving licence
Desirable Skills
* Experience in risk assessments and regulatory compliance (HAZOP, HAZAN, COMAH, DSEAR, CDM)
* Experience working on multi-disciplinary projects during Concept, FEED, and EPC phases
* Familiarity with ASPEN HYSYS software
