Our client designs, manufactures, and installs exquisite bespoke joinery for some of the world's most exclusive residential addresses, historic buildings, and landmark developments in the UK.
They are recruiting an experienced Drawing Office & Design Manager to lead their in-house Design Department.
This role is primarily based at the factory in East Sussex, overseeing the production of working drawings and supporting the design, manufacture, and installation of bespoke joinery and related products.
The position combines technical expertise with team leadership, ensuring efficient operation of the drawing office, high-quality outputs, and adherence to project timelines.
Most work is within the Home Counties and Central London, with opportunities for work further afield as needed.
Are you the right person for the job?
* Experienced in managing a Drawing Office with team leadership skills
* Proficient in AutoCAD, iX, Inventor, or SolidWorks
* Capable of detailing both traditional and modern joinery designs
* Highly organized, capable of delivering precise information within deadlines
* Familiar with CDM regulations and Health & Safety standards
* Proactive in advancing the design process and resolving challenges
* Flexible and willing to undertake overtime to meet project needs
* Committed to fostering a positive work environment and ensuring client satisfaction
What will your role look like?
* Lead and manage the Design team, ensuring drawings meet approval and construction standards
* Supervise workflow, resource allocation, and quality control in the Drawing Office
* Review quotations to optimize design benefits while maintaining quality and cost efficiency
* Oversee project design briefs, aligning with client specifications and architectural plans
* Conduct site surveys, setting out for installation coordination
* Coordinate with clients, architects, project managers, and consultants
* Document and distribute minutes from team meetings
* Ensure cross-trade coordination and resolve design conflicts
* Research and implement design improvements for fabrication and installation
* Maintain high standards and compliance within the Drawing Office
