The General Assistant role at Healthcare Ireland is a blended role, working with the Housekeeping and Kitchen team to assist with the day‑to‑day operations of the Home. The General Assistants in our Homes play a key role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of our kitchens, housekeeping and laundry functions, ensuring that residents receive high‑quality meals and have a clean environment. Working as part of the Kitchen and Housekeeping team, reporting to the Housekeeper and Chef, the role is about a lot more than preparing and serving meals and cleaning; the General Assistant will support with ensuring the dietary needs of our residents are met in addition to contributing to a clean and tidy environment for our residents.
Main Responsibilities
* Ensure the expected standards are achieved throughout the home
* Cover domestic, kitchen and laundry duties and receive training in all three areas
* Identify and report any damage, faults or other issues to maintenance or management
* Adhere to the cleaning and auditing schedule
* Use and store cleaning products in accordance with COSHH regulations
* Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required as designated by the Home Manager

Required Criteria
* To be numerate and literate with a good standard of English
* The right to work in the UK
* Basic knowledge of COSHH, Health and Safety, Fire and Security Regulations
* Previous experience in a relevant role
Desired Criteria
* Relevant work experience in a care home or healthcare environment
* Previous experience gained in a domestic, laundry or kitchen environment
